Fish Creek Rental House Testimonials

Here are Ellmann House testimonials from some of the many part time Door County residents we have had the pleasure of staying at the house.

Location, location, location. This house was ideal for us as we enjoyed the fall colors. The big home was a great fit for a girls’ weekend. Thank you for the great stay!

Steve was very timely with his communication an flexible with our arrival time. He gave us a tour of the house and even a little history which was neat! The house was close to town, easy to walk places and very easy to get in and out of for parking! We had a wonderful stay and look forward to another trip up!

Location is everything! Steve has a very historic home so close to the water and to the Peninsula State Park! We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. Steve was very helpful with directions, came and gave us a tour of the house and made sure we had everything we needed. Since the home itself was built in 1890, don't expect modern upgrades in bathroom or the kitchen, which will take away the historic essence of the home, the location is so perfect, that it will make up for lack of anything! Great hospitality, great experience overall.

The Ellmann House is large, comfortable, and beautiful. The home is extremely close to the main attractions, yet secluded, which I appreciated. The home featured every amenity I could think of needing. Steven is so kind and welcoming, he really makes you feel at home.

A quaint place with a great location, and a lot of history. The owner gave us a tour, and told us about some of the history of how the house was built - one of the first in Fish Creek. Interesting knickknacks and furniture, one of the bedrooms had all furniture from an old ship. It is an old home so has its creeks and quirks, but that’s part of what made it a unique experience.

The house has lots of room and the huge porch is a great feature. We spent a lot of time out there. As advertised, there is not air conditioning, but there were fans in each bedroom. Kitchen was equiped enough for us to cook a lot of our meals and it has a dishwasher which is always nice.

Beautiful spacious home. Steve is an amazing host. He was quick to respond to any questions We had. We arrived early & Steven let Us check-in an hour early-which was greatly appreciated. The history of Steven’s home and many of the items, in His home, is very interesting. The kitchen is unbelievably stocked with anything You could possibly need. Lots of sleeping room. The outside gathering places (wraparound porch, fire pit & grilling area) are amazing additions to the house. Location is a 5-minute walk to the docks, shops, beach & yet, when You are at the house, it is so peaceful & quiet. You’d never guess you are so close to everything.

The house is in a great location! Extremely walkable to the main streets of Fish Creek, and Steven has a wealth of knowledge about the house and the area. We really appreciated the tour of the house at check-in and the info about your concert series for the summer!

We are back again! A great time with the kids and grandparents. Went to Northern Sky Theater, Door County Adventure Rafting, strongly reccommend both... also loved the Singing Donut, Bayside, Julie's Cafe and the Gibralter Grill.

The little ghost did some strange things, moving stuff, closing and locking windows, etc.- but Grandpa had to scare the kids by appearing all in white in an upstairs window while we enjoyed the fire. J, aged 7 wanted to go home right then!

All in all a great trip- did I mention we could watch the fire works from the porch?

We truly enjoyed staying at the Ellmann House this week. The house is lovely and our large family found their own space and came together when I need them (Mom). You have everything any family would need, as you can tell, lots of happy families come back; we hope to do the same as well. Thank you Steve for the wonderful time!

The Ellmann House fits the bill for a rustic Door County vacation. We really enjoyed our trip and celebrating our daughter's 3rd birthday. The girls loved the bed in the Ship's Captain room, the games, porch and the tire swing. Definitely a great time.

We've been coming to Fish Creek for years and this is the first time we rented the Ellmann House. What a great and historic place! The giant porch and big yard were a plus for the kids. We enjoyed the fire pit and the close location to down town. If you get a chance, go down to the marina and feed the ducks.

10 things to do while in Fish Creek...

1. Eat all your at-home cooked meals on the porch (preferably cooked outdoors).

2. Take your coffee down to the harbor wall.

3. Explore the cafes for breakfast. Recommend the White Gull Inn on Main Street and Summertime Restaurant.

4. Sun on the beach in Ephraim. When it gets hot walk across the street for an iced coffee at Leroy's.

5. Catch the ferry to Washington Island and visit the ostriches!

6. Sit around the fire pit.

7. Stay up late talking on the porch.

8. Enjoy the State Park.

9. Don't wear a watch.

10. Share an unforgettable sunset at Sunset Beach at the end of Main Street.

We had a fabulous time - as always. Each visit is preceeded by great expectations of fun, laughing and enjoying the Ellmann House. The porch again was a main gathering point and this time we hosted a great birthday party. After grilling, chilling and eating we moved to the fire pit. Loved the new yard furniture! We had a great fire and told stories while catching up.

Discovered $2 Taco Night Mondays at Summertime in Fish Creek. Every visit to the Ellmann House in Door County is extremely enjoyable with memories made for returning to the next fire pit bonfire!

The Ellmann House was the perfect hideway for a few landlocked pirates! We celebrated a birthday, cooked, drank PBR's and planned our assault on the AC Tap. I hiked daily and walked from Eagle Tower to Fish Creek. Can't wait to be back to The Ellmann House and Door County again.

Thank you for the opportunity to re-visit Door County. I have not been here for 20 years- it was great to share old memories as new ones for my own children. They loved the fish boil, Wilson's ice cream and of course, the candy shop. We have to come back to Door County again.

Great place to get together. In the middle of everything. We biked, went to the beaches, ate a lot of good food, but best of all was being together as a family with all the kids and just having fun.

What a grand spot to celebrate Mom's 60th birthday. We loved biking through Peninsual State Park, but our favorite was Cottage Row on the bluffs. Blue Horse has the best coffee in town, Julie's has warm service, great food and is kid friendly, too. Just kicking back at the house and dwadling on the porch- we loved it. We will be coming back.

Our family has been gathering at the Ellmann House for about fifteen years. We come from all over the U.S. and the house is great for us. Lots of room, spacious kitchen, great porch and large yard. We enjoyed a meal of brats and wonderful Wisconsin sweet corn and cherry pie so the grill and picnic table are a plus. The wrap around porch is ideal for morning coffee, afternoon reading of books and most especially drinks and appetizers in the early evening. The house is especially suited for us and we look forward to it every year. Even though we know it is a rental property, it feels like it belongs to us.

I'm a repeater at the Ellman House and feel like its a second home. I can't wait to get there and it always seems too short a stay. I make the trip from Minneapolis with my family. The porch is the best and the weather doesn't matter because of the house and close proximity to various shops, restaurants, the lake and the grocery store. The kitchen is big and many great meals have been shared there as well as puzzles and games.

Once again a fabulous stay at the Ellmann House for our family get-together. This annual trip has become a highlight for our family and always a huge hit with everybody. The porch is a great favorite for gathering for meals, snacks, cocktails, reading or napping. The kitchen always has everything we need to feed us and is another nice place to gather. The fire pit is a great way to end the day with a rosy glow and marshmallows for the kids. Looking forward to next year!

Door County has been a tradition of our family for my entire life. We are now glad to make this house a tradition also! Many nights were spent in the living room and around the fire reminiscing about past vacations in Door County. Thank you very much for having us back and we look forward to being here next year at the same time.

Gather a group of women together from 2 on up and you will have such warmth. Laughter like you never heard before. How wonderful to come spend time together, the stories this wonderful home could tell. And the scenery was breathtaking beyond words.
